We have had a great couple days of learning in K/1!
Yesterday we... •Read the Story “It’s Spring.” We brainstormed words that describe SPRING. From that we created a poem/writing piece about Spring. Check out our display of our poems and paintings inside the classroom. •Literacy groups •Gym •Silent Reading- the students are so engaged during independent reading time and are finding their love for reading. It’s so great to see! •Finished up our tulip art from before the break. •Centers •We visited the garden and got to go inside the new green house. The students planted Corn and Peas. Ask your child if they remember what they planted and the difference between soil and dirt. Take a look at the pictures to see the students in action. Today we... •Read the story “What Makes Us Happy.” We then had a circle and everyone shared what makes them happy. Some things included school, friends, playing, swimming, animals, etc. The students then wrote about it in their journals. Ask you child what makes them HAPPY! •Visited the Studio •Literacy Centers- today our focus was on differentiating Upper and Lower case letters. We talked about when we use Upper case letters and lower case letters. We practiced writing, sorting, and stamping both upper and lower case letters. We also worked on printing our first AND last names the school way. •Forest with our big buddies
